Changing the Battery in Your Mini Key Fob
The key fob allows you to lock and unlock your vehicle from some distance. It also allows you to activate the panic button on your vehicle which can prevent burglaries.
You can repair your device by following few simple steps. First, ensure that the battery is new. Then, remove it from the ignition and pressing the button to lock three times quickly.
Battery
The battery you use in your key fob is among the easiest fixes. The key fob uses a tiny coin-shaped battery (CR2032 or 2025), which is easily located in the majority of general stores and home improvement stores and auto parts stores. Make sure you get a brand new battery -old batteries are usually no longer good for anything and can cause damage to the circuit board.

Other electronic devices that utilize the same frequency as the fob could also interfere with its signal. Garage door openers or tire-pressure monitoring devices may be affected. A transmitter in your home could be causing interference however it would be difficult for a professional to test.
It's possible that your fob needs to be reprogrammed. The transmitter on the key fob needs to be recognized by Mini's receiver. A unique code is then used for each pairing. Fobs have to be reprogrammed after they are disconnected or replaced, if you purchase a replacement and in some cases when the battery is replaced. Follow the steps in the owner's manual to program a key fob, or seek assistance from a dealer.
Faulty chip
